AEPA, the Alicante Province Association of Female Entrepreneurs, Professionals, and Directors, stands as the leading women’s business organization in the Valencian Community, representing more than 300 women who lead companies and guide organizations. The current president, Marcela Fernández Losada, notes that the growing membership underscores the strength of female leadership in the province. “At AEPA we’ve witnessed remarkable growth, tripling the number of associates since 2019. Alicante is full of talented women whom AEPA highlights, supports, and gives visibility,” she explains. The latest incorporations were formalized as part of the March 8 celebrations.

Founded in 1996, AEPA has emerged as a potent collective of women leaders, business owners, and professionals across public and private sectors. Committed to equality in the workplace and society, the association participates in the Equality Commission of the CEOE and the Labor Relations Commission of the CEOE and the CEV.

Among AEPA’s most notable initiatives is the annual networking event, now established as the most significant women’s business gathering in the Valencian Community. In 2024, the association hosted the I Congress on Women and Technology, a forward-thinking forum that explores the latest trends and technologies shaping the business landscape. AEPA also supports women-led startups, actively participating in events such as the Miguel Hernández University Startup Marathon.

In addition, AEPA offers a wide range of ongoing training workshops and runs female leadership programs, including the Superior Program in Female Leadership in collaboration with Aquora Business School, the Diputación de Alicante, and the Chamber of Commerce. In partnership with the University of Alicante, it offers specialized courses such as the Expert Course in Equality.

Marcela Fernández Losada emphasizes, “We are the leading women’s business organization in the Valencian Community and one of the most powerful women-focused business networks in Spain. Our goal for 2024 is to stay ahead of uncertainty by equipping our members with tools to face future challenges. This includes training in the latest technological trends, implementing innovative tools like AI in business processes, and developing soft skills such as sales, public speaking, and negotiation.”

AEPA also addresses sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and gender equality in the cultural realm, as demonstrated by its collaboration in organizing the annual film festival short program Helena Cortesina. This event supports and promotes cinematic culture, elevating the visibility and the role of women in cinema.
