In Rostov Region, the head of the Judicial Department, Andrei Roschevsky, has been taken into custody amid a bribery investigation. This development was reported by TASS, citing the press service of Moscow’s Basmanny Court.

The agency notes that Roschevsky was detained for a period of two months while investigators pursue the case. He faces accusations of accepting bribes on a substantial scale.

The court indicated that he has been charged under Part 4 of Article that covers mediation in bribery on a particularly large scale, reflecting the seriousness of the alleged offenses and the legal framework used to address high-impact corruption schemes.

Separately, Anatoly Ozernov, a former first deputy governor of the Ulyanovsk region and a former head of the Leninsky District Court in Ulyanovsk, was sentenced to five years in a strict regime penal colony on bribery charges.

Ozernov’s case dates back to November 2021 when he was detained in Moscow on allegations of embezzling budget funds. Prosecutors described a scheme in which, between August 2019 and July 2021, Ozernov allegedly accepted more than 2.7 million rubles in bribes from an associate. The sentencing underscores Russia’s ongoing focus on prosecuting public officials for corruption and highlights the judiciary’s role in enforcing accountability at various government levels.
