A total of 18 people were reported dead in road incidents between 15:00 on Tuesday, December 5, and midnight on Sunday, December 10, with one of the deceased being Valdesoto from Siero. The overview attributed by the General Directorate of Traffic shows that four of the 18 victims were vulnerable users: three motorcyclists and one pedestrian.
The period saw the highest number of incidents on Wednesday, Constitution Day, and Thursday, when seven separate events resulted in fatalities. In four cases, the deaths occurred in different crashes, underscoring the varied risks present on the roads during those days.
Among the 18 crashes, ten were off-road incidents, four were collisions, and pedestrians were struck in some events. The majority of accidents, twelve out of eighteen, happened on conventional roads, while five occurred on motorways or expressways, highlighting a distribution of risk across road types.
The places affected by these incidents included Yeste in Albacete; El Ejido and Vícar in Almería; Llubí in the Balearic Islands; Ripollet in Barcelona; Arenas del Rey in Granada; Aljaraque and Lepe in Huelva; Gurrea de Gállego in Huesca; Getafe in Madrid; Casarabonela and Málaga in Málaga province; Molina de Segura in Murcia; Xinzo de Limia in Ourense; Siero in Asturias; Abejar in Soria; and Vallada in Valencia.
Overall road deaths recorded by December 10 reached 1,072 for the year to date, a figure that is 76 fewer than in the same period the previous year.
