In Zaragoza, the Civil Guard acted quickly to resolve a baby abduction that unfolded in under 24 hours. A parent took the child from a parking area near the Monasterio de Piedra in Nuevalos. The suspects were later detained in Parla, a Madrid suburb. The infant’s father and grandfather, along with a family friend who was present, were implicated. The baby was found safe and reunited with the mother later the same afternoon. Investigators believe social media helped the abductors pinpoint the victim’s location.
The incident occurred in the nature park’s parking lot around 18:44 on a recent Thursday after a call to 112 SOS Aragon. A 28-year-old woman from Ibiza was leaving the site when a vehicle pulled up. Two men exited, a struggle followed, and the child was taken. Reports note the child may have sustained a minor arm injury from the force used during the abduction. The expectant mother, six months pregnant, suffered an anxiety attack and was treated at a hospital.
Civil Guard investigators focused on the vehicle used in the event as the primary lead. The child’s father and his former partner, along with the paternal grandfather, emerged as suspects. A friend who accompanied the mother and alerted authorities captured crucial footage on a mobile phone, which became key evidence in identifying the perpetrators. The case was discussed in terms of gender-based violence.
Authorities quickly identified the vehicle by its license plate and description, a green Volkswagen Tuareg, and alerted the General Directorate of Traffic to review security cameras along the road network to track the vehicle’s movements.
In parallel, the Civil Guard coordinated with the National Police. The main suspect, identified as DPG, is a 28-year-old man of Hispanic descent living in Loeches, near Madrid. Surveillance efforts targeted potential return trips to that address.
In a friend’s apartment
Through persistent investigation, Civil Guard teams in Zaragoza, with colleagues in Madrid, located the infant, his father, and the grandfather at a friend’s home in Parla, south of Madrid on Monte Tabor street. A joint entry and search operation was conducted by officers from the Superior Police and the National Police Corps to recover the child and detain the two suspects.
The homeowner, MACG, a 34-year-old of Hispanic descent, was found present during the operation and identified as a friend of the boy’s father and an alleged collaborator. All three adults were arrested on charges related to child abduction, with one held for serious injuries and another for involvement with a criminal organization. The group was described as acting in concert toward the same goal. They spent the night at a Civil Guard outpost in La Almunia, Zaragoza. The investigation, overseen by a court in Calatayud, aims to uncover the motives behind the abduction by the child’s own parent. Reports indicate the parental separation began last June, with the mother alleging repeated attempts by the father to see the child and restricting access.
There were no prior complaints or protective orders noted. The 28-year-old father was accompanied by relatives who were visiting the area at the time of the incident. Authorities noted that the suspect had used a social media post to track the mother’s location.
In Spain, offenses of this kind fall under Article 225 bis of the Penal Code. A parent who abducts a child faces a sentence of two to four years in prison. The case mirrors a similar incident from 2018 in Zaragoza, when a neighbor father abducted his son and hid in Huelva. The sentencing in that case included two years in prison, eight months of community service, deprivation of custody, and a suspension of parental access for a period.
