A Harvard Medical School research team found that eating solid foods while taking a diabetes medication called Metmorphine significantly reduced hunger and improved appetite control. Research results published In the journal Nature Metabolism.
Some research suggests that the widely used diabetes medication Metformin is effective in aiding weight loss. In a new scientific paper, researchers confirmed that Metformin increases the amount of an appetite-suppressing factor called lactoylphenylalanine (Lac-Phe). Lac-Phe is defined as a “mixture” of lactate and an amino acid called phenylalanine.
Lacat is lactic acid, the level of which increases in the body after consuming food. This contributes to the feeling of fullness. Scientists have found that consuming solid foods causes a more intense “surge” in lactate concentrations. This allows you to increase the effect of weight loss drugs, the effect of which is to increase the production of Lac-Phe.
Researchers also found that various high-calorie beverages had little or no effect on lactate (and Lac-Phe) production. This means that consuming them prevents you from reaching fullness and slows down your weight loss process.
