Alexander Stubb ahead in Finnish presidential elections

National Coalition Party candidate Alexander Stubb is leading in the second round of the Finnish presidential election. This is stated in the message of the country’s Ministry of Justice, reports TASS.

According to the results, with just over 58 percent of the votes counted, Stubb is ahead with 52.7 percent. His opponent is former Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto.

11 February in Finland passed Second round of presidential elections. Former Prime Minister Alexander Stubb and former Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto advanced to the second round. Both politicians support a hard line in relations with Russia, advocating continued aid to Ukraine and improved cooperation with NATO.

The second round of the presidential election in Finland started with record early voting participation. Approximately 46% of voters chose to use this option as part of their campaign electorate. This is even higher than the first round results, where 44.7% of Finns voted early.
