After weeks of waiting for real cold in much of Spain, Low temperatures and frosts are finally coming. This was confirmed by different meteorologists and AEMET itself, which announced a polar air mass that would crash the thermometers almost instantly.
According to Marta Almarcha from eltiempo.es, temperatures will drop by 10°C or 12°C in just 24 hours, which will be a result of the arrival of a cold polar air mass that “usually brings cold, but not precipitation.”
On the same Monday, a drop in temperatures will already be noticeable on the Peninsula (especially in the north), but the situation will be more pronounced on Tuesday. Then the above-mentioned cold air mass will completely penetrate Spain and spread over the peninsular territory, as well as the Balearic Islands. However, it will take a little longer for the Mediterranean coasts and the Canary Islands to notice this drop in temperatures.
Generally, “There will be a drop of up to 10°C from one day to the next In Guadalajara, Cuenca, Albacete, Ciudad Real, Teruel, the interior of the Valencian Community, the Region of Murcia, Almería, Granada and Malaga. This decrease can reach up to 12°C around the Central and Iberian systems and in the Pyrenees,” adds Marta Almarcha.
It is expected that the situation will continue in the same way on Wednesday and even thermometers will drop a little more.
Now the same expert emphasizes: There is no talk of a “cold wave”, pFor this to occur, at least three consecutive days are needed in which at least 10% of stations consider record minimums below a given historical period.
AEMET also confirms that this week will be very cold, especially in the mountainous systems, with frost occurring in the early morning hours.
According to estimatesFriday morning may be the coldest morning of the entire weekMinimum temperatures in almost all the interior of the peninsula can be below 5°C, although some cities, such as Madrid, may record 0°C and others in the interior may even record sub-zero temperatures.
