Dietitian Shyla Cadogan said dividing foods into “good” and “bad” foods won’t help you lose weight. Additionally, this approach to diet planning can trigger the development of eating disorders. In this respect reports Daily mail.

The expert explained that all products have a beneficial quality, they provide energy to the body. But some people prefer to eat only “good” foods – vegetables, fruits, grains, poultry. They label sweet and starchy foods as “bad” foods.

Organizing your diet this way can lead to overeating. According to the nutritionist, a person who tries to eat only healthy foods will sooner or later eat something “bad” due to the restrictions that put pressure on him. Some foods become more appealing when completely eliminated from the diet.

A breakdown is often followed by a strong feeling of guilt and an even stricter choice of diet. Cadogan warned that such actions can contribute to the development of eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder. In addition, it will be more difficult to lose weight due to constant cuts in “forbidden” foods.

To stay slim, it is recommended to reduce your intake of sweet, fatty and carbohydrate foods, but you should not give them up completely. In this way, a person trying to lose weight can protect his mental health.
