this electric This Wednesday it will drop more than 25% to 217.42 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), an adjustment payable based on the results of auctions in the wholesale or pool market and after the fuel cap to reimburse utilities using this material.
In addition, according to data from electricity market operator OMIE and Iberian Gas Market (Mibgas), the wholesale price of electricity (the price paid by consumers at a regulated rate) will be about 52 euros lower than at 269.54 euros. If the gas cap was not applied for electricity generation, MWh would have been paid.
This price will be the fifth lowest price since July 1and it remains 60% below the maximum recorded on 8 March of 544.98 euro/MWh, almost two weeks after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The fall happens context marked by the energy instability to which it is exposed Europe, which caused the European Commission to declare an “urgent response” to the electricity market, which could be exacerbated by the Kremlin’s indefinite shutdown of the Nord Stream gas pipeline.
For tomorrow, the main European economies will remain at historically high levels as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, although they will almost generally see a slight decline in their prices.
this The highest price will be recorded in ItalyIt will fall to 483.26 Euro/MWh is ahead of France, where it again fell to 468.96 euro/MWh.
In Germany the price will rise to 462.47 euro/MWh, compared to 261.31 pounds/MWh in the UK (about 305 euros at current exchange rates).
In Portugal, where the gas cap is also applied due to the so-called “Iberian exception”, the auction price will be the same as in Spain, with which it shares its market.
Auction and setup
If only the results of the auction in the wholesale market are taken into account, without including the adjustment that the gas cap beneficiaries have to pay to compensate the facilities using this material, electricity will decrease by about 37% to stop at 106.56 Euro/MWh.
According to the time zones (and always without the above-mentioned adjustment), the maximum price will be recorded between 21.00 and 22.00 with 189.15 Euro/MWh; a minimum of 48.42 euro/MWh will be between 16:00 and 17:00.
However, it is necessary to add to these amounts the cost of adjusting the gas power plants, which varies depending on the volume required and the price of the system and affects the households and beneficiary companies.
For tomorrow, the temporary average fix for consumers will be 110.86 Euro/MWh and the final price will be 217.42 Euro/MWh, slightly less than double what it was a year ago.
