The international group of ascentsist opened the mechanism of formation of giant stars that later turned into supernova. The study was published scientifically magazine Astronomy and astrophysics (A & A).
The team examined the young Işık HW2 in the constellation of the front of 2300 light years from the ground. This star has already reached 16 sun mass.
The HW2 is surrounded by HW2, 200-700 astronomical unit radius (30-15 billion km) hot ammonia accumulation disk, as shown by observations using radio telescopes, which are a huge antenna grille in the United States.
This powerful gas flow falls into a star at a speed of 0.002 solar mass per year, which becomes a record indicator for such objects. For comparison, the 0.002 solar mass is 6.7 billion times more than the mass of the Earth – 3.98 sectral tons.
Head of the Research Alberto Sanna said, “We have received direct evidence that big stars can occur with discs,” Alberto Sanna said.
The analysis showed the external gas flows that feed the asymmetry of the disk with fresh material. This explains how the star continues to grow despite the big mass. Computer modeling, gravity collapse and rotation showed a balance between observations perfectly overlapped.
The discovery puts an end to discussions about the nature of HW2 and proves that the collection discs can maintain the formation of even the largest stars.
