A group of scientists from the University of Eastern Finland have revealed a worrying relationship between increasing level of glucose and early damage to the heart muscle. It turned out that the prediabetic situation of the young age increased the risk of heart pathologies after reaching 20 years. The study was published scientifically magazine Diabetes Care.
The team analyzed 1595 adolescent data and found that the antiabetic sugar level until the age of 24 was recorded in 26.9% of the participants.
Hypertrophy of the left ventricle was detected in 7.1% of young people (three times more often than puberty).
