Rospotrebnadzor sees no need to develop monkeypox vaccine for animals

Alexander Semenov, Doctor of Biological Sciences, head of the Ekaterinburg Viral Infections Research Institute, the SSC VB “Vector” of Rospotrebnadzor, said that at the moment there is no need to develop a vaccine against monkeypox for animals. This has been reported TASS.

According to Semenov, most animals tolerate the disease either very easily or without any external manifestations.

“In general, there is no need to develop a specific vaccine for animals, because most animals tolerate infection with monkeypox virus very easily, that is, with minor manifestations of the disease, or, for example, rodents, without external manifestations,” shared a biosciences doctor

Semenov added that cases of transmission from humans to animals have already been recorded. In France, a case was recorded in which the monkeypox virus was transmitted from its owners to a pet dog. The animal had mucocutaneous lesions.

Previously reportedthat an American caught monkeypox at a dance.
