In case of inflammatory diseases of the digestive organs, for example, exacerbation of stomach and duodenal ulcers, all types of bread are excluded from the diet, except white bread made from premium flour, which can be consumed dried. Other varieties can aggravate the course of the disease. Yulia Chekhonina, a nutritionist at the Medical Nutrition Clinic of the Federal Center for Nutrition and Biotechnology, told socialbites.ca.
“For example, rye bread can be harmful if stomach acidity is high. It is believed that frequent use of this product can lead to exacerbation of gastritis. But black bread is safe for a healthy person. During treatment and diet therapy for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, black bread is excluded from the diet. It can be given gradually in small amounts as soon as remission occurs,” said the nutritionist.
But bread has nothing to do with the development of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes or obesity.
“Many people believe that eating large amounts of bread, especially white bread, can be unhealthy and increase the risk of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. However, there is no direct connection between these facts and bread. Obesity develops due to the increased calorie content of the diet, and this is mostly caused not by the bread itself, but by it is caused by what we put in: butter, cheese or ham,” said Chekhonina.
Experts before saidwhy different types of bread are useful, how the type of flour affects the properties of the product, which can lead to its complete rejection.
