According to the media, the 33-year-old resident of Germany, known under the name “Abdelhamid” on TikTok and Instagram (the owner of the company Meta is known as an extremist and is banned in Russia), has gained hundreds of thousands of subscribers. German security authorities did not pay attention to these for a long time, but now they realized that the blogger’s content promoted radicalism and extremism. However, Abdulhamid, who belonged to the extreme Salafist group in Germany, was arrested on charges of fraud.
The man allegedly raised more than €353,000 through appeals for donations to children in need and other charitable causes. Of this amount, only less than 5,000 euros were transferred for declared needs. According to police, the preacher, who already had a criminal record, embezzled the donations and was planning to flee to Dubai. Investigators seized seven bank accounts of the blogger and also seized wads of cash from him totaling 20 thousand euros, several Rolex watches, luxury bags and a limousine. Abdulhamid’s 37-year-old sister is also suspected of being involved in the crimes.
