Almost half of Russians (45%) believe that being in the office affects work efficiency, and twice as many believe that the office increases productivity as those who say that productivity decreases at the employer’s premises. Meanwhile, 36% did not note any connection between work efficiency and the location of the workplace, and 18% could not give a definite answer, having nothing to compare it with. This is shown by a study conducted by the service “Repair with SberServices” and YuKassa analysts, the results of which were reviewed by socialbites.ca.
For the majority of respondents, the interior of the workplace plays an important role. 45% of respondents said that it is one of the most important factors when looking for a job. 31% agreed that it is important but not critical. However, 17% of respondents consider salary to be more important than working conditions, and 7% do not pay any attention to the design of the workplace.
“The workplace is not just a desk and chair, but a space where we spend a significant amount of time to complete tasks and achieve goals. Properly arranging your workspace can significantly increase productivity, improve your mood and reduce stress levels. Choose comfortable furniture, such as an adjustable desk that allows you to work both sitting and standing. If possible, place your workspace near a window; natural light can improve your mood and increase productivity. In winter or at night, pay attention to a desk lamp or floor lamp with high-quality lighting. Use drawers and organizers to store documents and office supplies; this will help you maintain order and quickly find the things you need. Remember that your workspace should reflect your personal preferences and style so that you feel as comfortable as possible,” commented Polina Tsvetkova, project manager of the service “Repair with SberServices”.
Respondents highlight several important aspects when choosing a workplace. The most important of these are the travel time to the office (87%) and a convenient workplace (83%). Modern equipment is important for half of the respondents (50%), while good lighting is important for 45%. Almost a third of Russians (32%) said that there is a supply of stationery, and 26% said that there are recreation areas.
The design and atmosphere of the workspace attracted 18% of respondents, while a nice and comfortable kitchen attracted 15%. Less important factors were outdoor space (7%), a gym (5%), plenty of fresh flowers (4%) and the presence of a terrace or veranda (3%). Finally, 6% of respondents also mentioned other features such as quietness, desk location and air conditioning.
“The organization of the workplace is an important factor affecting the productivity and comfort of employees. You need to pay attention to such details as fresh flowers, seating areas, stationery. According to the YuKassa service, in July 2024, the turnover of online platforms selling office supplies increased by 40% compared to July 2023, purchases increased by 8%, buyers by 21%, and the average check increased by 29% – to 6,718 rubles. At the same time, compared with June 2024, the turnover of such stores in July increased by 23%, the number of purchases increased by 5%, the number of customers by 4%, and the average check increased by 17%,” added Irina Polyakova, head of service support for corporate clients of the fintech company YuMoney.
