This rare archaeological find is associated with a unique treasure trove of women’s jewellery from the Central Sarmatian culture. This treasure was first discovered by a “black digger”.
The end of the belt, which is only half preserved, is decorated with a tamga – a Sarmatian sign popular in the first centuries of our era. This part is attached to the belt with a leather rivet. Archaeological research has shown that the end of the women’s jewelry and the treasure are from the same period.
To find the origin of the treasure, archaeologists organized excavations at the site where it was discovered in the Shcheglovskaya Zaseka forest area.
Artifacts from different periods, including items from the Middle Ages, were discovered in this ancient settlement located on a tributary of the Sinetulitsa River.
