Doctors recommend using only protective creams containing SPF (Sun Protection Factor) to stay in the sun, but in this case, vitamin D is not produced in the body. A serious deficiency of this substance can lead to the development of skin cancer, said a scientist – chemist, head of the laboratory of functional properties of biopolymers at the Institute of Biochemical Physics named after him. NM Emanuel RAS Maria Semenova.
SPF creams protect the skin from UV radiation, which is considered one of the main risk factors in the development of melanoma. That’s why doctors recommend protecting yourself from open sunlight with clothes, hats, sunglasses and sunscreen.
“Of course, such hygienic protectants protect the skin from aggressive ultraviolet radiation, but the fact is that a serious vitamin D deficiency can also lead to the development of skin cancer. Vitamin D for the skin is its internal protection against damage caused by UV radiation. Vitamin deficiency causes premature dryness and hyperpigmentation of the skin, loss of elasticity, wrinkle formation and redness. “For this reason, it should be added to foods especially in the autumn-winter period,” he said.
Moreover, according to him, it is best to use vitamin D in oil capsules. It is a lipophilic nutraceutical, so when you consume the tablet form of vitamin D, it is almost not absorbed.
