Doctor says aspirin may worsen breathing problems 16:17

Taking aspirin may cause breathing problems in people with asthma and sinusitis. Dr., an ear, nose and throat specialist from the Mayo Clinic (one of the world’s largest private medical and research centers). Angela Donaldson talked about this. Donaldson stated that bronchial asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways, manifested by shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing attacks during exacerbations. In severe cases, respiratory failure can be life-threatening.

According to the doctor, taking aspirin may worsen asthma symptoms by causing cough and wheezing. Also, this drug can cause exacerbation of sinusitis – inflammation of the mucous membrane of one or more paranasal sinuses. The fact is that aspirin can cause the formation of polyps in the nose, thus making it difficult to breathe through the nose.

The doctor also warned that asthma and sinusitis patients should use non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen and naproxen with caution. Aspirin and NSAIDs can be found in a wide variety of cold and other medications. For this reason, people with respiratory diseases should read labels carefully when purchasing medications.
