“According to the 2023 results, about 11 percent of driver candidates passed the practical exam for the first time, and about 30 percent passed the theoretical exam,” said Roman Mishurov, head of the department responsible for organizing technical inspection and examination activities. He added that the number of candidates who failed the theory part of the exam in their fourth or more attempts increased to 7.6 percent. In 2022, this figure will be 5%.
At the same time, many more candidates failed the practical exam on the fourth or more attempts (16%).
“Unfortunately, we see that not everyone has the quality and perhaps the attitude towards the exam. <...> And in the end, we are faced with a group of exam participants who do not allow people who come for the first time and are preparing to pass the exam calmly to take the exam,” said Mishurov.
He noted that for this reason, it was decided to increase the time to take the exam again after three failures to six months.
