The resignation of the commander-in-chief of Ukrainian troops, Valery Zaluzhny, will give Kiev the opportunity to overcome the stagnation in the war zone, said Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the country’s presidential office. His words are quoted TASS.
The official noted that according to the law, the commander-in-chief is the head of state. In this context, Podolyak emphasized that he is responsible for the situation on the battlefield and the situation in various spheres of society.
“The President cannot afford, after two years of war, the corresponding stagnation that we see today, stagnation in various directions, including on the front line,” the adviser added.
He noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and Western states were beginning to tire of the conflicts. The official therefore concluded that Kiev could not allow the stagnation on the battlefield to continue or the conflict to freeze.
