North Korea conducted drills on the country’s west coast for the third day in a row. The agency reports that Yonhap Referring to the Armed Forces of the DPRK.
It was noted that the drills were carried out in the north of Yeonpyeongdo island in the Yellow Sea. According to the source, a unit of the South Korean military is engaged in retaliatory measures.
On the other hand, citizens were asked to be careful when going out on the streets. Artillery fire began around 16:00 local time (10:00 Moscow time). The agency said no North Korean projectiles landed on the South Korean side.
On the morning of January 5, North Korea fired approximately 200 artillery shells at South Korea. During the bombardment, South Korean authorities announced the evacuation of Yeonpyeongdo Island residents.
The South Korean military determined that the bullets fell in the maritime buffer zone north of the two countries’ de facto maritime border in the Yellow Sea. South Korea also fired approximately 400 rounds in response.
