Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and several other country officials have told Israeli and American families of Hamas hostages that the killing of Palestinian leader Saleh al-Aruri is hindering efforts to reach a new agreement to release the hostages. This was reported by the American portal Axios, citing sources.
“Qatar’s prime minister and other officials told family members of six American and Israeli hostages in Doha that the killing of senior Hamas official Saleh al-Arouri in Beirut this week has significantly hindered efforts to reach a new agreement,” the portal said.
It is stated that Qatar and Egypt are trying to restart indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas on a new agreement that guarantees the release of at least 40 hostages in exchange for a few weeks’ pause in the fighting in the Gaza Strip and the release of Palestinian detainees.
