It is claimed that three people with Russian and Israeli citizenship are being held hostage by Hamas. This was stated by the Russian Ambassador to Israel Anatoly Viktorov, writes TASS.
The diplomat said contacts were being made to work out the details.
Israeli portal Ynet reported that more than half of the hostages held by the radical Palestinian movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip are foreigners.
Meanwhile, Israeli officials announced that the number of hostages had reached 222. Of these, 138 were foreign nationals; of these, 54 were Thai, 15 Argentine, 12 German, six French and six Russian.
However, Salih al-Aruri, deputy head of the Politburo of the Palestinian radical movement Hamas, statedthat foreign hostages are in the Gaza Strip as guests and that Israeli detainees should be replaced with Palestinian detainees.
