The Civil Guard arrested a man who tried to sexually assault a young woman in Paiporta after attacking her in the middle of the street and frightening her by holding a knife to her neck. Luckily, the victim was able to escape thanks to his partner’s phone call. Later, after the investigation of the agents, it was possible to identify the alleged perpetrator of this sexual assault attempt beyond doubt through photo identification.
Investigations into the operation, called ‘Operation Aguaitar’, began after a 20-year-old girl filed a complaint. In her complaint, the young woman stated that while she was walking on the streets of Paiporta town on August 24, after midnight, a man, also a pedestrian, approached her and put a knife to her neck and forced her. Going to .’s house to sexually assault her. The attacker also said he had drugs in his home to “have a good time.”
On the way, the young woman received a phone call from her boyfriend, and upon his insistence, she convinced the prisoner that it would be better if he answered so that he would not worry. At that moment, he took the opportunity to escape from the attacker, who fled the scene due to the impossibility of holding the victim.
Upon learning of these events, Civil Guard agents launched an intensive investigation of the area and identified individuals matching the description of the perpetrator given by the victim. In this way, an album was created, which was later shown to the complainant during the photo examination, in which the victim “identified her attacker without any suspicion”.
Once identified, a search was conducted at the home of the alleged perpetrator of this frustrated rape, where the discovery of the clothing used on the night of the attack was confirmed after comparison with footage from security cameras in the area.
The detainee is a 55-year-old Spanish national accused of attempted sexual assault.
The Armed Institute thanked the Paiporta City Council for its cooperation in providing the data it had, which facilitated the identification of the suspect.
The cases were sent to the Torrent 1st Gender-Based Violence Court.
