Psychologists have discovered why it’s okay to be angry with your partner sometimes 08:56

British scientists from the University of Surrey have studied the effects of anger, contempt and disgust on friendships and romantic relationships. They concluded that in some cases, hostile feelings helped people overcome conflicts. To work published in the scientific journal Personality and Individual Differences.

The authors of the article evaluated how strongly people are affected by the manifestation of various negative emotions and how they usually react to these reactions.

Experts say that, paradoxically, sometimes hostile feelings must be expressed if people plan to stay together for a long time. First of all, this is about anger, because anger helps change a partner’s behavior. For example, a woman blaming a man for forgetting their anniversary reduces the likelihood of making such a mistake in the future.

The power of anger is also associated with taking corrective action. The more angry people are with their partners, the more likely their partner or friend is to try to fix the situation, the researchers said.

Scientists warn that contempt and disgust are extremely destructive emotions, and their manifestation will most likely lead to feelings of mutual dissatisfaction and the breakup of a couple or even divorce.
