Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zakharova said Ukrainian authorities have lost the opportunity to maintain sovereignty
The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, is sure that Ukraine has already missed its chance to become a sovereign and independent country. She said that during a briefing, the correspondent of “Lenta.ru” reports.
According to Zakharova, Ukraine was given the opportunity to exist within its own borders in both 2014 and 2015, but the country’s authorities missed that opportunity. “For seven years, first Poroshenko’s team and then Zelensky’s team were persuaded to take advantage of this opportunity. (…) We have used all platforms, international, multilateral, to explain that Ukraine has no option but to take appropriate measures under the Minsk Action Plan,” she said.
At the same time, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Moscow nevertheless assumes that Ukraine has a chance, and continues to conduct a dialogue with Kiev.
Earlier, Zakharova said that the sooner Ukraine realizes that a peaceful solution to demilitarization and denazification is inevitable, the sooner the Russian special operation will be completed.
She is also confident that massive arms supplies to Ukraine from Western countries will prolong the conflict, with unpredictable consequences.
