Scientists from the University of Birmingham confirmed that physically active elderly people do better with cognitive tasks even in case of mental fatigue. Research Results published In the Anging and Physical Activity Journal (Jara).
In the first experiment, men aged 52 to 79 years with low physical activity. Subjects were asked to take care, memory, information processing and a series of tests to evaluate physical skills. As scientists expected, senior participants (65-79 years) were weaker than the men of the young age group (52-64). These differences were especially evident when the participants were in a case of mental fatigue.
The second study compared the retirees between the ages of 66-72. Those who pioneered an active lifestyle have been better dealing with tasks after mental stress.
Scientists confirmed: age, cognitive and physical abilities, especially with a low level of activity decreases. However, regular sports can increase resistance to mental fatigue and increase general good goodness.
Professor Samuel Ring, the leading author of the study, said that older people apply a combination of mental and physical exercises. Such an approach, known as the training of brain durability (bet), can help maintain performance and resistance against fatigue even in old age.
Brain resistance training has been original for professional athletes, but now this plan can be used for anyone using mobile applications. Coordination contains exercises to improve dexterity and fine motor skills.
