Spanish footballer Bellerin called racism the removal of the Russian team from the squad for the World Cup
Spanish Arsenal footballer Hector Bellerin spoke about the removal of the Russian national team from international tournaments. His words are quoted by Estadio Deportivo.
The athlete called the racism that the Russian team did not get the chance to participate in the qualifying tournament for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. “There is little sympathy here. We only care about what happens next to us,” said Bellerin.
The defender has been playing for London’s Arsenal since 2013. He is on loan to Real Betis this season. The footballer won a bronze medal in the Spanish national team at the European Youth Championship and was also called up to the main team for Euro 2016.
On March 8, the International Football Federation announced that the Polish national football team has automatically qualified for the finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The team was due to argue for this right with Russia on March 24, but the match was canceled after the domestic team was disqualified.
