Statement described ‘Fault’ Reminiscent of Robin Wright’s directorial debut, ‘In a wild place’. Here, Wright’s protagonist decides to leave civilization and retreat to a cabin in the Rocky Mountains after a personal tragedy. In ‘Culpa’, a young woman does the same after being raped by a friend, settling in another cabin away from the frenzied crowd. Things are different then, but both movies start from an extreme situation and are resolved as follows: strong woman survival exerciseseven if it was weakened by the living conditions, which broke away from everything because the world did not respect them either.
‘Culpa’ is not led by its protagonist, but this is Manuela Vellesco-wrote the script with the director of the movie, Ibon Cormenzana. Double implication then. The film depicts and is based on a situation devoid of external embellishments, and the director seems to feel very comfortable in this play with space and few characters: ‘Top’, published a few weeks ago, about two climbers and the vast expanse of Annapurna. In the first 15 or 20 minutes of ‘Guilt’ there are excellent staging decisions, such as the long, continuous, blank shot of the main character’s dining room after the sexual assault. Then, in the woods, inside the cabin, the film somehow breaks down, unable to sustain that tense sense of emptiness and guilt that wears away the hero.
