A recent survey conducted among adults in the Russian Federation points to video games as a notable tool for managing stress. The study reached 1,200 participants who were over the age of eighteen and surveyed through VK Play. The findings reveal that a majority, fifty five percent, turn to video games to cope with tension. The most common genres cited include strategy games at twenty seven percent, puzzles at twenty one percent, and simulators at twenty percent. Action titles, role playing games and sports simulators each accounted for ten percent of responses.
When it comes to the benefits, thirty seven percent reported that gaming helps divert attention from their problems, about a quarter enjoy the social aspect of competition, and sixteen percent said video games spark imagination. A tenth noted that gaming fosters new friendships within the community.
Participants were also asked about perceived skills gained from gaming. Forty seven percent believe that playing games enhances critical thinking, forty three percent say it improves coordination and motor skills, and thirty percent indicate a boost in leadership abilities. Finally, twenty three percent observed that starting conversations with strangers becomes easier through gaming interactions.
The survey also highlights which types of games people lean on most when stress is high, underscoring the practical and social roles that games can play in daily life in the region. The broader takeaway is a growing recognition that digital play can offer relief, structure, and a sense of connection during tough times, particularly when people seek focused tasks or collaborative challenges.
