Why are servants needed?

Servants prove to be a valuable tool in the game because they can handle several tasks at once. They act as guardians for the castle, help harvest resources, and bring a livelier feel to the domain by giving it a sense of real, moving inhabitants.

  1. First of all, a servant serves as the castle’s guardian. While the owner is inside the building, these characters defend it and fend off attacks. In co‑op play, it is smart to assign one or two servants as guards at home.
  2. They assist in resource recovery. Through the Throne feature, servants can be sent on missions to gather minerals or valuable items.
  3. Ultimately, the castle feels more alive with genuine people and activity.

The recruited heroes will need appropriate equipment. Their level and combat effectiveness depend on what they wear, so armor and weapons should not be overlooked for guards, especially in multiplayer sessions.

How to recruit a servant and make a special chest

Recruitment becomes possible after upgrading the castle heart to its second level. Leather is required for this upgrade, so it helps to consult a separate guide on sourcing skin and upgrading the castle heart for the first steps.

How to craft a coffin for a servant?

Once the power supply is upgraded, a unique option appears called Vampire’s Kiss. This ability allows charming people to recruit them as servants. Animals and undead will not respond to this method; humans are the ones who can be recruited.

Before seeking new subjects, build at least one Servant Chest in the castle. It is located in the Production – Dominance section. The following resources are required for this chest:

  • Board (16) — produced in the sawmill from wood
  • Copper bar (8) — smelted from copper ore in a furnace
  • Greater Blood Essence (1) — produced by a Blood Press after collecting at least four Flawless Hearts

How do you obtain servants?

To use Vampire’s Kiss, open the Skill Radial menu by holding the control key and activate it. While active, the standard attack is replaced by the tempting ability mapped to R.

When scouting for a servant, consider the faction and the blood quality. These factors influence the bonuses available during expeditions. After identifying a suitable candidate, engage in combat but avoid killing them. Leave them with enough health to permit a blood absorption opportunity. Instead of absorbing, trigger Vampire’s Kiss and wait a few seconds.

The target can be charmed and guided back to the castle. Exercise caution, as a poorly escorted subject might perish on the return journey. Open the servant’s entry in the chest and select transfer to begin the crafting process, spending 100 Blood Essence. A timer starts, and a servant appears after a couple of hours in real time. The exact duration depends on blood type, quality, and faction.

How to make the throne and manage the servants

By default, a recruited servant acts as a castle guardian. To use them for resource gathering or item collection, a throne must be crafted and placed. This allows the servant to perform more varied tasks.

To craft the throne, defeat the Quincy boss, the King of Thieves, to obtain the Iron Block recipe. This is a challenging foe, so thoughtful preparation is advised.

Resources needed to build the throne:

  • Stone Brick (24) — produced in a stone mill
  • Iron bar (16) — smelted from iron ore in an iron furnace. The ore is available at the Scourge Iron Mine in the Danley Farms region
  • Greater Blood Essence (4) — obtained by using flawless hearts on the blood press

Place the throne in a suitable location, equip the fighters, and send them to the right regions to search for valuable items. Items and weapons can be transferred directly to the servant’s inventory. Better armor and sharper blades raise the equipment level of the guardians.

Blood group, quality, and faction

Each resource extraction region has its own nuances. Successful sorties depend on the servants’ skills, so recruiting the same enemy repeatedly is not always effective.

Keep an eye on the recommended strength in a given region. A weak servant on a mission may take damage or even die.

Where a servant resides matters. It is not wise to send them to distant territories, as doing so can reduce a general power bonus received from the servant.
