IGN unveiled a 26-minute gameplay video showcasing a somber Polish RPG with an expansive open world and non-linear quests, titled Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon.
The clip opens with a conversation between the protagonist and an NPC. Soon after, the hero climbs a tower and finds himself inside a mine. Midway, he steps into an underground hall where a statue of a woman on a throne is worshipped by a gathered crowd. In the closing moments, the protagonist clashes with that crowd in battle.
The game draws its inspiration from the board game of the same name, pitched by its creators as a dark reinterpretation of Arthurian legends. The narrative unfolds on Avalon, a mysterious island harboring hidden powers. Players can expect a sprawling open world rich with lore, branching quests, and choices that have meaningful consequences.
The project was slated for release before the end of 2022 via Steam Early Access. A recent teaser hinted at new character designs, including a figure reminiscent of 2B from NieR Automata.
