The United Colonies faction flexes its reach across many star systems, so players will meet its members frequently as the story unfolds. This guide provides a detailed overview of the faction’s task chain and what to expect along the way.
Complete additional Starfield tasks
To start the United Colonies questline, head to the Alpha Centauri system and land on the planet Jamison. In the MACT area, go upstairs into the building perched above the local subway. On the left, a conversation will begin with a person who invites the player to join the faction. Accepting this invitation opens the quest path ahead.
Supra and ultra
After meeting the prerequisites, the first mission begins. In the same room, take the elevator to the Orientation Hall. Use the console to register, then stroll through the vast exhibition space to reach the department where the improvised cockpit awaits. The story unfolds through a sequence of tasks that test the player’s judgment, skill, and resource management.
There are six difficulty levels offered, but completing four is sufficient to finish the quest. Adjust the barrel parameters by reducing a few units of gravity propulsion and reallocating those points to shield, secondary weapons, and the motor. The goal is a balanced setup that suits the player’s playstyle and the challenge of the mission.
After the assessment, return to Tual and answer a few questions. If the Crimson Fleet has already been dealt with in favor of pirates, it’s possible to imply that this is a distant memory. A brief cutscene follows, marking the completion of the task.

Grunt work
Begin at the spaceport and speak with a technician to gather clues. The mission updates to send the player to Tau Ceti II, a planet in the same system. Landing is only possible at the Production Center location.
Upon arrival, locate Adrian and listen to her guidance. The objective is to reset the security system in the nearby building. After completing this, a mutant monster will appear. The player has a choice: defeat the creature solo or switch three switches to avoid a fight. If taking the first route, freezing mines are recommended to immobilize the foe for a time.
Collect tissue samples from the creature, then return to Jamison and hand them to Thaul.

Devils deliver
The next path takes the player to Mars, specifically to the Commerce Department, where Oktay Enbayar awaits. Take the elevator to level P2 and enter the bar. After a chat with the bartender, a conversation with the man on the wall will unlock additional activities.
During the quest, the player must either clear Percival’s name or settle his debt. The debt resolution has variability: go to the building’s lower level to access a terminal and adjust the owed amount, or pay the full debt upfront.
If more content is desired without time wasted on hacking, listen to Cambridge Cooper and proceed to the Deep Mines. The plot indicates this location will be reached naturally. Exit and use the scanner to locate the mine entrance.
Spacers are waiting inside. After neutralizing the bandit leader, enter the small laboratory and listen to Cambridge.
Hematite deposits exist in the same mine. Gather at least one stone with a cutter and place it in the thresher. The key card for the elevator to exit the mine should be recorded on the same device.
Return to the man and deliver the resulting analyses to Oktay in the Commerce Department. Percival’s debt is cleared, and the key card to the advertisement featuring the scientist can be collected from the bartender.
Then simply follow the markers until Percival reunites with Adrian. A long dialogue with the scientists completes the quest.

Eyewitness
Adrian advises reporting the terramorph invasion to the United Colonies Council on Jamison. If the Crimson Fleet questline has been finished as pirates, a few questions will arise in a conversation with Abello. Lying is an option to avoid unnecessary trouble.
The discussion is interrupted by an attack from terramorphs. In total, several mutants must be eliminated at the Spaceport, with Adrian offering limited help this time.
Tip: Some citizens will attack along with city defenders. Non-lethal weapons are useful to stun enemies briefly without escalating violence.

Fast travel to the MACT area, then ride the elevator to the top level (Offices) to meet McIntyre. After obtaining the card, head to the adjacent building and speak with the ambassador.
You can use persuasion to gain access to the archive. Instead of bribes, choose an alternate path. If successful, the Freestar archive code is awarded.
Proceed to the House of Va’Ruun embassy. Along the route, destroy a dozen robots and turrets and activate energy systems to open doors. The path is straightforward, so wandering is unlikely.
Eventually Bal’mora is reached, and a conversation yields the Va’Ruun Archive Codex.
McIntyre delivers the latest archived code. With all three codices in hand, follow the markers to the archive building, listen to the operator, and insert the cards into the consoles next to the doors in a random order to access data on block 18.
Return to McIntyre to take the oath. Listening to her and pledging completes the task.

The devils you know
Take the elevator in the same building to the lowest level and meet Sanon. The prisoner proposes a small assignment: uncover Reginald Orlas’s location and grab his personal map. To do this, talk to various characters and even visit Dan station in the Wolf system.
According to information gathered at Dan station, the criminal drifts in the Ruins of Etheria. It’s wise to prepare the ship for battle, because dialogue fails to work with this opponent.
If the engines are destroyed and boarding occurs, Reginald Orlas will end his own life. The map is found on his body. Share the found information with Sanon and close the quest.

War relic
The next quest becomes available on Mars again, this time in the Niira system within the Narion region. Locate Gel station and gain details about a missing robot. The objective is to find the robot, free it from the creatures clinging to it, and then purchase a MicroCell battery from Gel, available in the Miscellaneous section for 10,866 credits.
Return with the battery and guide the robot to the spacer base. Along the way, deal with various monsters. After neutralizing threats, move the robot first to Gale’s station, then to Percival’s laboratory.

Hostile intelligence
Speak with Adrian to access another merchant who offers not only ammo and medicine but solid weapons. Then travel to the Toliman System on Toliman II. The route may bring American SysDef ships; identify yourself as part of the American Vanguard mission.
Upon meeting the group, inspect the room for weapons and ammo. Press forward, dealing with terramorphs. In open areas, check containers for sample boxes. Be mindful of nearby monsters that also appear during the exploration.
Deliver the samples to the robot and enter the lab where terramorph experiments were conducted.
After defeating the next creature, wait for the robot to unlock the offices on the top floor. Restore power, restart the system, and continue recording the scientist’s observations.
Outside, a final battle with the terramorph anomaly begins. Ordinary enemies will appear as distractions. To quickly neutralize a particularly powerful foe, activating three radar antennas helps a lot.

A forged inheritance
Return to Jamison and speak with Sanon. Present the audio recording obtained in the lab to prove the prisoner’s guilt. A choice follows:
- Tell Adrian that her father is alive and responsible for the terramorph attack on New Atlanta;
- Reveal the truth about Sanon to the congregation;
- Conceal the truth from Adrian and the council.
Several council decisions will influence the story’s progression, including whether to kill or spare Sanon if the truth is told, whether other factions should be drawn into securing the Lazarus Factory, and whether to destroy the terramorphs or continue the investigation.
While the exact impact on the game world remains uncertain, the rewards stay consistent across outcomes.
