All quests on Cordon

This section catalogs the full set of story missions and side tasks at the Cordon area. It is where the protagonist first steps into the world, though the terrain differs significantly from fans’ memories of the original Shadow of Chernobyl setting.

Package for Toad (head)

After the opening cutscene, the player talks to Toad, turns around, and collects a metal box from a couch behind the hero. The next objective is to head to the military border post, seize the suitcase, and leave the box behind, all while facing potential dangers on the route. If military patrols spot the player, trouble ensues because the hero starts unarmed and vulnerable.

Head to the marker, drop the iron box, and retrieve the container. Delivering the last item to Toad completes the quest.

Bring an artifact from the tower (main)

The instruction is to reach the railway bridge, circle around it, and climb to the opposite side. A small guardhouse houses the artifact, but many anomalies surround the building. Throw bolts, trigger anomalies, and ascend to the first floor, then climb to the roof. Retrieve the document folder, which can be sold for profit, and the artifact on the floor.

Avoid returning the same way. Instead, leap onto the bridge and make your way back to the merchant with the find.

Back Kalash (side)

Upon returning with the artifact, a message from an unknown stalker appears. He waits on the slope near the anomaly‑rich tunnel. Speak to him with weapons stowed and agree to help. He shares a tale of bandits taking refuge in a nearby factory.

You will pass through this area again during story missions. No weapon is needed here, as two bandit corpses lie nearby from which weapons can be looted.

However, returning the item will cause a new message to appear suggesting that the gun is wanted back. It is recommended to discard the weapon promptly because it is irradiated and could deliver a dangerous radiation dose over time.

Meet the stalker (main)

This objective unlocks after delivering the artifact. Toad provides a silenced pistol, and the player needs only to buy cartridges. In this mission, firing is not required.

Run toward the anomalous tunnel and encounter the waiting stalker. Along the route, rats may appear; they strike in packs and can deal serious damage. A quick pistol shot is the easiest way to deal with them, as a knife is less reliable against quick rodent adversaries.

After meeting the new ally, follow him into the factory building. If meat appears on the way, let the ally handle it. The next objective, Search Documents, appears in the task log. If the log is not updated and the player returns to Toad, business talk does not resume.

Search documents (main)

Finding PM cartridges helps complete the tasks more smoothly. If that approach fails, the player may rely on a single knife. A nearby entrance leads to a two‑story building. The attic contains cartridges, first aid kits, and key documents for the search. Climb to the top floor and move through the attic to reach the left side, then crouch to pass through a narrow area. On the opposite attic side, on the floor, lay the needed items.

Back at the route, the player might face an attack from a bandit as well as patrol soldiers. It’s a challenging moment that often requires a swift retreat. If the player manages to repel everyone, Kalash rifles, cartridges, and other gear become available for trade.

Return to Toad, hand over the documents, and describe the Meat encounter. The day can end with the merchant inviting the player to visit a nearby bunker where a rest is possible.

Missing team leader (primary)

The next major objective is to revisit the factory area to rescue a missing military commander. It is wise to conserve ammunition until reaching the factory itself, where it will be needed in earnest.

Upon arrival, explore the first floor of the three‑story building and speak with the soldier. A heavy swarm of zombies erupts immediately, and some are especially resilient. The player can attempt to finish them with a knife, though ammunition often proves more reliable.

Proceed to the second floor, eliminate the controller, then inspect the lieutenant’s body in the attic. Return the commander to health with a first aid kit and escort him to the border post. If a first aid kit is unavailable, a return trip to Toad is necessary to purchase one.

As soon as the signal comes through radio chatter, the escape begins. The player runs toward the village, takes shelter in a bunker, and waits out the danger. Toad is informed of the outcome, and the reward is collected. The merchant then offers access to a broader range of consumables, weapons, equipment, and food for sale.
