The Polish game studio CD Projekt RED released a no cost toolkit named REDmod that lets players customize Cyberpunk 2077. This modding toolkit supports installing and loading community mods and enables additions like new sounds, animations, and scripts, expanding what players can experience in the game.
CD Projekt RED has indicated that REDmod will be updated alongside Cyberpunk 2077 to stay compatible with the latest game builds. The toolkit can be used through the WolvenKit editor or run from the command line, giving modders flexible options for work and testing.
To install REDmod, players copy the toolkit into the game folder specified in the mod installation instructions. In REDlauncher, a new toggle appears beside the Play button to enable or disable compatible mods. On GOG Galaxy, the toggle can be found within the settings. This makes it straightforward to manage which mods are active during a gaming session.
CD Projekt RED notes that they will not provide direct mod support. Players who need to access or manage mods should contact the mod authors themselves. REDmod is available for download, and if direct access is blocked in some regions, using a VPN may be necessary to obtain the file. The toolkit invites fans to revisit classic experiences in other games as well, highlighting a separate mod for Fallout: New Vegas that reintroduces cut content (via VG Times).
In practice, REDmod aims to empower the community by offering a robust framework for customization without altering the core game files in a way that could risk stability. By separating mod content from the main game installation, players can experiment with new audio, visuals, and gameplay scripts while preserving a clean baseline install.
