  2. Strategies to level up and accelerate the battle pass in Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 is a free-to-play title where many cosmetic items and even some heroes become available through the Battle Pass. Instead of player levels, the game tracks progress with the Battle Pass Rank. Players often aim to unlock everything as quickly as possible, and this guide outlines efficient methods to speed up progression.

XP in Overwatch 2 can come from matches, but smarter tactics can dramatically boost leveling. There are two main avenues for gaining experience and climbing levels: completing challenges and finishing matches.

Completing matches remains the simplest source of XP, yet each match yields a modest amount. The smarter approach is to focus on challenges, which can yield thousands of XP per day when tackled regularly.

Many challenges are tied to specific heroes. To level up faster, players should switch heroes and take on challenges available from the game’s main menu, rather than grinding a single character. Focusing on available challenges can noticeably speed up progress.

Overwatch 2 categorizes challenges into daily, weekly, seasonal, and permanent groups. Most challenges cannot be completed in custom games or training modes, so players should engage in standard play sessions to maximize rewards.

Complete Daily Challenges

Daily challenges offer strong XP gains and are straightforward to complete. There are typically six daily tasks, but only the first three completed count toward experience. This means players can selectively pursue three daily challenges each day and shift focus to weekly and seasonal goals thereafter.

Each completed daily challenge yields 3,000 XP, with a daily cap of 9,000 XP. If three new daily challenges are completed every day, the weekly XP total reaches around 63,000, which translates into roughly six Battle Pass levels, since each level requires 10,000 XP.

Another easy goal is securing the first win of the day. Group play and certain challenge types may require different objectives, such as dealing a set amount of damage or surviving specific matchups.

Complete Weekly Challenges

Weekly challenges last longer than daily tasks and generally provide more XP per task. Rewards are earned for completing weekly challenges, and their counts aren’t limited to the first few tasks.

Each completed weekly challenge awards 5,000 XP, and with 11 weekly challenges available each week, a player can accumulate up to 55,000 XP. This is enough to unlock about five Battle Pass levels. Interestingly, many weekly challenges overlap with daily tasks, allowing multitasking—for example, a daily win and a weekly win can be pursued in tandem.

Weekly challenges typically involve multiple wins, dealing a specified amount of damage, or executing key team actions to succeed.

Join Seasonal Challenges

Seasonal challenges provide a steady stream of XP. Season 1 includes 41 challenges, each awarding 500 or 1,000 XP, with a few rarer tasks offering 3,000 or 5,000 XP for exceptional participation.

Seasonal challenges often hinge on using a variety of heroes, encouraging players to try different roles rather than sticking to favorites.

They are tied to different maps and modes, including hero-specific trials and more general tasks. Players should aim to complete these before the season ends to maximize rewards.

Complete Ongoing Challenges

There are permanent challenges that unlock with long-term milestones. Most reward titles and cosmetics, but the initial nine tasks grant Battle Pass XP. These challenges typically celebrate the first win of a given type, such as first win with a support hero or first win in a team fight.

Each ongoing challenge awards 500 XP, and finishing all nine yields 4,500 XP. While this is about half a daily haul for many players, early in a season this method can provide meaningful help.

How to Quickly Advance the Battle Pass in Overwatch 2

To reach all Battle Pass levels, a player must accumulate 10,000 XP per level. With 80 levels in total, the target is 800,000 XP across the season, which unlocks every reward without spending real money.

Players who complete the recommended daily and weekly missions as they unlock will typically see about 118,000 XP per week from these tasks, with the remaining XP coming from match play and seasonal rewards. A dedicated player can unlock the full Battle Pass through in-game methods in roughly six to seven weeks.

For those who prefer convenience, purchasing a Battle Pass tier with currency is always an option, though this is a personal choice and not required to progress.
