Game Informer has shared an exclusive first look video for Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, the upcoming asymmetrical multiplayer adventure inspired by the Ghostbusters franchise. The clip centers on a prison-themed stage, giving players a glimpse of the map layout and atmosphere that fans can expect at launch.
The project is being developed by IllFonic, a U.S. studio known for several popular multiplayer titles. Their portfolio includes Friday the 13th: The Game and Predator: Hunting Grounds, projects that blend tense strategy with action-oriented play and strong player collaboration.
In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, a quartet of hunters confronts a single player who embodies a mischievous ghost. The ghost character wields a variety of supernatural abilities designed to thwart the pursuing team, adding a strategic layer to the chase. The hunters must coordinate, track clues, and use gadgets to corral and capture the apparition, while the ghost uses misdirection and powers to evade capture and create chaos.
The game promises a diverse lineup of power sets and spectral forms, each offering distinct tactical options. This variety is intended to keep matches fresh and encourage players to explore different roles and strategies with every round.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is planned for release in the fourth quarter of this year on PC via the Epic Games Store, along with PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Crossplay support is confirmed, enabling players on multiple platforms to team up or compete against one another. A note for audiences includes the addition of a Russian voice option will not be available at launch, aligning with decisions made by the game’s localization team.⚡️
