How to start a mission
Star Wars Outlaws lets players upgrade Kay’s speeder by earning a temporary speed boost. To unlock it, the player must meet Selo Rovak, known as The Mechanic, and complete her expert mission. The challenge is stiff, with several obstacles along the way, but the payoff is a faster ride across the world with the upgraded speeder.
How to begin the Mechanics mission
To begin the mission called Mechanics in Star Wars Outlaws, the player should speak with Danka’s contact at the Daruda Diner in Jaunta’s Hope. Arrive with a speeder or use an available fast travel point. Enter the diner and talk to the bartender, who explains that Selo Rovak, the Mechanic, is the next contact to reach.
Since the bartender has not seen Selo in some time, the recommended next step is to head to a windcatcher settlement named Kadua to seek her friends. The game will mark the location on the map as soon as it’s discovered.
Finding the Rovak village
Kadua lies to the west of the Mirogana Valley. Upon arrival, the player will notice two villagers nearby. After a brief exchange, a local contact can point to Seloh’s whereabouts. The hint directs travel to a rock formation northeast of Jaunta’s Hope.
When the waypoint is reached, Selo’s shop sits at the cliff’s edge, and she can be found outside. Interacting with the Mechanic opens the job to upgrade the speeder, but she requests a special piece first—the Atmospheric Accelerator. Magnetic disruptors are provided to aid in the upcoming steps.
Where to locate a wind turbine
The initial task is to locate a wind harvester. Selo marks the spot on the map, positioned northwest of Jaunta’s Hope. The player simply drives the speeder to the side of the mountain to begin the operation.
The village instructs the player to place the magnetic disruptors on the console on the platform to the left of the turbine’s fan to halt movement and gain access.
The route continues through a tunnel. Although the exit is blocked at first, turning right into another tunnel branch leads to the necessary area.
Where to obtain the atmospheric accelerator
Next comes a tougher segment. Approaching the entrance, it’s vital to move under the bridge rather than over it. If approached poorly, the fan on the bridge can deal damage. Under the bridge, an energy barrier appears and must be shut down.
Send Nix to disable the barrier; he can use the right-hand ventilation system. With the barrier down, the player proceeds inside to reach a large ventilation setup.
Climb the stairs into a tunnel crowded with fans. Cross the initial two big fans only when they are off. Patience is essential, timing the movements as the fans cycle on and off, then slipping past when they pause.
Beyond, a platform hosts another continuously spinning fan. Shooting the left-hand node will disable it, clearing the path forward.
Next, climb the wall’s grid system. Jump between grids when prompted, but stop at the large fan and wait for it to turn off before crossing.
A tunnel with a large top hole leads to a long pipe path that requires careful navigation to a narrow passage. Squeeze through to reach a broad tunnel area with more fans to negotiate.
The route is blocked by two large wall-moving structures. If they are within the wall, sprint past them quickly to keep moving.
Then cross the yellow lattice and climb the wall. Reaching the top, jump onto another fan and then ascend to the higher fan. Timing is crucial, or the wind can throw the player off the surface.
Inside a tunnel there is a container. Around the tunnel’s exterior, loot the items found inside for supplies before continuing.
Outside the tunnel, shoot the two glowing nodes on either side of a spinning fan to prevent it from moving, enabling a safer passage.
From there, cross to the opposite side and hop onto the yellow beam. Jump back over the fan, climb the grate above, and proceed along the posts and grates, dropping onto the next platform.
Additional flying structures emerge from the wall, so wait for their return to their starting positions before running past and continuing the climb along the yellow grid. When prompted, leap up the yellow beams and platform edges to keep advancing.
Eventually, reach the top and use the moving structures to jump over them. It’s important to time the jumps so the lower two structures are on the outside while the upper two stay inside, preventing a rapid fall. If an opportunity presents itself, a quick full jump can clear the area.
More yellow levers come into play, and the path continues through additional fan sections. After clearing these fans, the grates lead to another ventilation system.
Enter the ventilation system and ascend the final stairs to reach the control room. There, a quick survey yields useful items before collecting the Atmospheric Booster from the terminal when prompted. This grants the coveted Accelerator power.
To escape the wind machine, exit the control room through the door on the left of the terminal. Use the grappling hook on marked spots to reach the large wheel-like fan on the opposite wall.
With the booster secured, the speeder awaits outside. Drive through the disabled fans and through the long tunnel to exit the ventilation system.
The journey loops back to Selo’s shop, where presenting the Atmospheric Accelerator completes the mission and unlocks the Speed Boost ability for the speeder, delivering a burst of speed for a short period.
