Genshin Impact North Wind Squall Guide Summer Event 4.8

Despite the departures of Zenless Zone Zero and Honkai: Star Rail, HoYoverse continues to support Genshin Impact. In mid-July the game rolled out a substantial update labeled 4.8. It introduced new characters, fresh weapons, new quests, and temporary tasks. This guide focuses on the North Wind Squall challenge series as part of the Summer Dragons Fairytale event.

How to participate in the “Summer! Dragons? Fairytale!”

Two conditions must be met to join the event:

  • Reach adventure rank 18;
  • Complete the Archon quest “Song of Dragon Freedom”;
  • Finish the quest ‘The Story Begins in the Forest Where No Rain Falls’ to unlock the new Simulanka region.

All temporary tasks run from July 17 to August 24. If those dates pass before Update 5.0, the tasks will no longer be accessible.

Starting the Summer Dragons Fairytale and gaining access to the Northern Wind Squall series

After the event begins, players should complete the quest “Brave North Wind.” Journey north of the Forest of Blessings and locate a flying squirrel named Clanche. Speaking with Clanche reveals the features of the new minigame. Completing this dialogue grants 4 adventure experience points and 10,000 mora.

Rules for the minigame “Squall of the North Wind”

Players must fly at high speed and shoot targets with curved trajectories. Each shot uses energy, which recovers over time. Simple targets require standard hits, while breaking a ball demands a charged shot. Hold the attack button briefly to execute the charged shot.

If a bomb target appears, shoot it first. The explosion clears nearby targets, saving time. Against slimes, perform a sequence of light shots for best results.

During flight, avoid colliding with branches or stationary objects. A collision costs points and momentum.

First test. Against the storm

Open the event page and choose the line labeled Against the Storm. The red pedestal is located to the north of the area, southwest of the teleport.

Flight movement remains standard, and shooting uses the attack keys.

Completion yields 30 Source Stones, Mora, and other resources. Scoring above 1000 points earns extra coins and materials, with a larger bonus for hitting 1500 points.

The guide will be updated as new challenges appear.
