More than a year after its release, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to reveal surprises. A Reddit post recounts how a once overlooked companion became a potent counter against mages. The story centers on a rare sussur flower found in a specific corner of the game world, a plant that can create an antimagic field. Outside that location the flower loses its power when carried to the surface. Yet players have discovered a workaround that keeps the magic in check.
Inside the Underdark the flower’s antimagic effect can influence the battlefield, but the real twist comes when the plant is given to a pet. In a test reported by JustCreamyThings, a player gave the flower to Shkryab instead of a toy. The dog ate the plant and gained an antimagic aura. With Shkryab moving through fights, the party gains a mobile barrier that disrupts enemy spellcasting. The effect remains active even after leaving the Underdark, offering a portable advantage during exploration and combat across the early game.
Unfortunately, when Shkryab is recalled and summoned again, the antimagic aura fades. Yet the trick can still offer meaningful help during the early acts of Valor mode.
More recently, a statement from the head of Larian Studios suggested that Baldur’s Gate 3 is not finished yet. Fans now anticipate fresh content and ongoing enhancements. The game continues to draw players in large numbers and frequently sets new records for engagement and sales.
Notes: The report demonstrates how players can uncover clever synergies with companions and items to influence combat outcomes. It also highlights Baldur’s Gate 3’s open world and its design that invites ongoing experimentation and surprises.
