A Taiwanese brand, Asus, has revealed the Zenbook S 13 OLED, a ultra-thin 13.3-inch laptop whose thickness falls under the one-centimeter mark. This unprecedented feat for its screen size has been highlighted in a recent update from 3DNews.
To achieve such a slim silhouette, Asus employs specialized materials, an ultra-thin OLED panel, and carefully designed printed circuit boards. The manufacturer notes that the Zenbook S 13 OLED’s lid is, on average, about 25% thinner than that found on typical laptops, while the rear shell measures roughly 30% thinner. Despite the minimized profile, the device retains cooling fans, underscoring a balance between slim form and thermal management.
In terms of portability, the Zenbook S 13 OLED stands out for its light weight. The company has reached a mass around 1 kilogram by using a magnesium‑aluminum alloy and other materials sourced from recycled content.
The Zenbook S 13 OLED will be offered in multiple configurations. The top-tier model is expected to include the latest generation Intel Core i7 processor, 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and a 1TB SSD.
As of now, there is no official word on the release date or the price of the new Zenbook S 13 OLED.
Separately, reports from socialbites.ca mention that the Russian company Softline plans to establish a factory in Kaliningrad to assemble locally produced laptops.
