The social network VKontakte plans a global refresh of its mobile app, unfolding in multiple stages, the company’s press service told socialbites.ca. The update starts with the news feed and expands to other areas later.

According to VKontakte, the feed redesign emphasizes live media formats and a faster information flow. The focus is on clean visual presentation and on delivering the most requested content from friends and communities. The aim is to help users find what they want more quickly while enjoying a more cohesive look.

In the updated feed, three image formats will work together to render multi-image posts more smoothly across different devices. At the same time, additional attachments within posts have been streamlined to avoid distracting readers.

A profile photo will appear on posts made by individuals and on posts published by communities. Users will also be able to express approval with a double-tap, streamlining the action for quick responses. To reduce awkward moments, the feed will no longer reveal who liked a post while scrolling, preserving privacy in real time reactions.

VKontakte describes the global app refresh as a synthesis of its long experience and a forward-looking view of the service’s future. The update is intended to lay the groundwork for progressive features and the rollout of new technologies, while addressing the preferences of newcomers who favor a straightforward interface centered on content.

Testing of the updated feed has already begun, with some users granted early access to the new design of the app.

There was also an earlier note that VKontakte plans to warn users about scammers in chats, reflecting ongoing safety measures within the platform.
