Ravensburger has announced a new expansion for its popular collectible card game, Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game. The set, titled Shimmering Skies, adds fresh characters from the House of Ideas, introduces evolved gameplay mechanics, and offers players a glimpse of what lies ahead for Lorcana now that Ursula’s blight has been defeated.
In Shimmering Skies, Lorcana’s realm hosts a festival celebrating the recent victory over Ursula, a triumph that wrapped up the previous set Ursula’s Return. While most residents enjoy the festival’s playful activities, Illuminators search for ways to repair the damage Ursula inflicted on the Great Illuminator, and a new mystery begins to unfold amid the celebrations.
Magnificent illustrations
The set features imagery and characters from Disney’s film Wreck-It Ralph, introducing protagonists such as Vanellope von Schweetz and Fix-It Felix Jr. Players will also experience new gameplay mechanics and a storyline that will gradually reveal itself through stunning artwork, all enhanced by a vibrant energy that elevates both the festivities and the game itself.
Included in the package are two starter decks paired with Emerald-Steel or Amethyst-Ruby color schemes, booster packs with additional cards, and a new Illumineer’s Trove. New accessories encompass two playmats featuring Mirabel from Disney’s Encanto, and the Glimmer Accomplished Mystic of Belle from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. A nine-pocket card album with illustrations by Lorcana artist Nicholas Kole debuts, alongside new card sleeves and deck boxes featuring the lead characters Tiana and Aladdin.
Cross-franchise combinations
All of this content will launch first in select stores and Disney Parks starting August 9, with a wider rollout to toy shops and Disney Stores on August 23. Ravensburger also announced a foil Shimmering Skies card with an alternate illustration will be available for a limited time in copies of Disney Villainous: Introduction to Evil that include a distinctive sticker.
First introduced in 2018, the Villainous franchise has built a devoted fan base across a growing catalog of 14 games. These games spotlight villains from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel, designed to be enjoyed right out of the box or in combination with other titles from the same line. Each release invites players to revel in the fun of playing as villainous characters to achieve unique, themed objectives.
