The fourth international conference on practical cybersecurity, OFFZONE 2023, organized by BI.ZONE in Moscow, highlighted the leading trends in financial sector cyber fraud, strategies to thwart intruders, and the growth of the cybersecurity community. This overview comes from the press service of Sberbank, the event’s strategic partner.

More than 2,500 attendees and 108 experts contributed their insights, experiences, and viewpoints to the program, underscoring the conference’s broad appeal across security professionals and technical disciplines.

OFFZONE 2023 drew support from 50 partners, including 18 media organizations and 15 community representatives. The gathering united security professionals, software developers, researchers, educators, and students from technical universities, creating a cross-disciplinary environment for collaboration and learning.

Speakers reflected on how the cybersecurity landscape has evolved over the past decade, shared practical tips for mobile DevSecOps, and examined notable attacks that leveraged common remote control tools. They also explored weaknesses in code produced by neural networks and discussed related challenges facing the cybersecurity sector today.

In addition to the main conference program, the event featured dedicated tracks for specialized audiences. AntiFraud.Zone focused on the security of financial systems and banking infrastructure, AppSec.Zone addressed secure development and application security analysis, and Capture the Flag exercises enriched the overall experience of the participants. These tracks complemented the overall OFFZONE program and fostered deeper engagement within the security community.

Within the scope of OFFZONE 2023, a presentation was given on the yearly results of the BI.ZONE Bug Bounty platform. During the discussions, attendees reviewed trends in the bug bounty market and shared outcomes from their efforts in vulnerability discovery and remediation.

Key outcomes included 17 participating companies and 51 vulnerability discovery programs hosted on the platform. The total payments issued for discovered vulnerabilities surpassed 15 million rubles, illustrating a robust market activity and the tangible value of coordinated vulnerability disclosure.

Evgeny Voloshin, BI.ZONE’s Strategy Director, described the growth of the cybersecurity community as a central objective for the organization. He emphasized the importance of practical knowledge exchange and cross-disciplinary networking among engineers, students, CISOs, and security experts from various domains and career stages. With the support of partners, he noted, OFFZONE has become a premier venue for professional networking and skill development, and the organizers intend to continue expanding its impact across the industry.
