Cyberpunk 2077 free trial arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S with five-hour window

CD Projekt RED has unveiled a free trial for Cyberpunk 2077, exclusive to owners of current generation consoles. The offer is detailed on the developers’ site and is aimed at letting players sample the experience at no cost.

The trial will run on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S from March 28 at 18:00 Moscow time until April 1 at 9:59. During this window, players can explore the futuristic Night City for up to five hours. After the trial ends, continuing the journey requires purchasing the full game.

Access is limited to core content and installation will demand about 99.3 GB of free space on PlayStation 5 and roughly 103 GB on Xbox Series X/S. The PC version will not participate in this promotional format due to technical constraints.

Observers may view this move as a tactic to boost interest after a rocky launch in 2022, when performance and stability drew considerable criticism. In the months since, a series of patches and updates have improved the game’s stability and playability. Fans have welcomed the Phantom Liberty expansion for its strong reception, though it is not included in the free trial offer.

Earlier reports noted substantial consumer spending in Russia, with around 7.5 billion rubles spent on spring Steam sales.
