Developers from CCP Games have announced an extremely unusual way to perpetuate the memory of Space MMO Eve Online for future generations of players. The studio will release a poem written in the blood of fans on a real parchment of calf leather.
The head of CCP Games, Hilmar Veigar Péturson, announced this as part of Eve Fanfest. The unique collection of epic poetry in the style of ancient Icelandic Sagen will fall the most iconic stories made by players in the world of Eve Online. The writer Andri Snier Magnason will be responsible for the work, and the blood of fans will serve in ink – the general director said that the Icelandic bank bank will invite the next Eve fan festival in May. Participants can act as voluntary donors, and a small part of the blood received will go to an ambitious project.
We are obsessed with this idea of ’eternity’. It turned out that one of the best ways to store information is to take blood and write on calf skin. People in Iceland did this a thousand years ago and these books are still being saved.
The collection is released in just a few unique copies that are not for sale. One of the copies will already transfer manuscripts to the Icelandic museum, for the rest they will also find a worthy place. Fans can also get a copy of the collection – however, in a more trusted form.

According to PC Gamer, this is not the first ambitious project of the makers of Eve Online. In 2014, for example, the studio founded a monument with the names of players in Havan Reykjavik.
