Today is Star Wars (Star Wars). Millions of people have grown in a cult franchise, films are assessed endlessly and many scenes from these films have become popular memes. Of all episodes, the best three are usually mentioned the best: the fourth, fifth and sixth. That’s just when you looked at them for the first time in recent decades, then with a high degree of probability, the not the same original trilogy of the Star Wars, which the audience of the 1970s and eighties found. And all because director George Lucas made changes to old films and changed whole scenes with every new reprint. Admittedly, most of his adjustments seem pretty strange to fans. We will talk about the most controversial operations of the famous visionary in this material.
What kind of reprints of the original trilogy and why they don’t like them?

Special editions of the Special Editions of the Star Wars are a series of reprints of the films “New Hope” (A New Hope “(A New Hope” (A New Hope “(A New Hope” (A New Hope “(a New Hope” (Ampire Strikes Back) and the return of the Jedi (Return of the Latei), for the first time, Technology Advanced in That Time modernized the old films in honor of the franchise and launched new versions with improved photo and audio, CGI institutions and even previously unprecedented scenes.
Lucas immediately admitted that he never considered theatrical versions of the original trilogy as ideal and finished works. And here are special publications and attempt to bring the classics closer to the first vision of the director, which could not be realized once due to the lack of advanced computer special effects.
What is the Star Wars trilogy especially?

Remasters angry a considerable number of purist fans. Fans of the classics expressed indignation because of the fact that the films, in their opinion, changed too much in terms of tone and plot and for the worst. They also complained that theatrical versions became more difficult to get after the appearance of new products.
But Lucas would not stop. After the first special publications, he continued to release new iterations from the original trilogy on physical media. So in 2004 a new variation of the fourth, fifth and sixth episodes was released on DVD with many differences. And in 2011, when the time came to release the classics on the Blu-ray discs, George Lucas took the opportunity to make a series of changes again.
With every new special edition, a considerable number of fans were always angry with Lucas and even aroused doubts about his talent. The maker of Star Wars, of criticism, fired and remained on it that the old theatrical releases are “half -dead” and did not earn a respectful attitude. Maybe he would continue to update films, but in 2012 Disney bought Lucas film, after which Lucas stopped franchise. But what didn’t stop is the debate about the changes that the director has been able to make over the years.
Arrival of Luke and Obi-Wan in Mos-eshley

As already mentioned, fans of the classics are not very happy with how special publications the tone of the trilogy changes. Many agree that the changes films make children and less serious. A good example is the scene of the arrival of Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Droids in the settlement of Mos Eshley in the “New Hope”.
In the original this is a short moment for 15 seconds: we see how the heroes fly to the village on the Landpider, after which the Empire attacker starts to interrogate them almost immediately. In the updated version, the whole moment is stretched because of various inserts with CGI-living things, walking around Mos-eshley and inside. Fans are perplex why so much time to concentrate on an alien zoo. Moreover, a frame is ridiculed, where one of the computer animals slowly passes straight in front of the camera, so that the moment of stopping the heroes with attack aircraft is completely blocked.
Musical performance in the Palace of Jabba

Another example of the injured tone is the new musical performance in the Jedi return. A strange type of CGI prikels sings a funny song Jedi Rocks, which does not fit stylistically in the group of the group that perform in the Palace of Jabba Hatta. The “Return of the Jedi” is already blamed for the fact that the film reduced the conflict rates when cute Evoki appeared in the plot that the soldiers of the empire could resist. The song in the palace hit the perception of the film for almost a minute.
Computer Jabba Hatt

Because it has arrived at Jabbe, it is worth noting the scene in which Khan Solo communicates with the criminal leader in the fourth episode. Jabb was initially made by a man, their dialogue was shot, but later it was removed from the theater version. Lucas was planning to replace the actor with a doll, but there was not enough budget. Then, in a special edition of 1997, the director decided to give the scene back with the CGI version of Jabba Khatt.
Lucas this moment has updated this moment in the 2004 DVD publication, making the alien visually closer to the canon. Nevertheless, many fans consider the position that the scene of the dialogue of the Khan and Jabba has no place in the “New Hope”. As, because of how it is shot, the criminal leader looks small in terms of size, and the dialogue itself does not correspond to his character. Jabba would not meet personally on the surface of the planet with the Khan Solo and would certainly not have suffered that the mercenary was rejecting his tail during the conversation.
No!

One of the most controversial innovations of the reprint of the “Return of the Jedi” is the Scream “No!”, Who publishes Dart father, who does not want to tolerate the torture of his son by Palpatine. Fans find this change with a completely unnecessary and reduced turning point.
The Spirit of Hadenenenen

For a long time, indignation in humans was also caused by the fact that Lucas replaced the spirit of the power of actor Sebastian Shaw, who played father without a mask in the final of the Jedi, Heiden Christensen, who played the role of Anakin Skywalker in Prequels. If you watch the films in the exit order, then people who are not familiar with the first, second and third episodes will not even understand who it is. It is also unclear why Father’s Spirit became young, but Obi-Wan-NO.
Nevertheless, they started to treat the stage warmer over time, especially after the series “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and “Ahsoka” (Ahsoka). By the way, our Asoki assessment can be found here. And still don’t miss the first impressions of the new season of the “Andor” series.
Khan no longer shoots

Perhaps number 1 claim from the Star Wars community for special publications. According to the updated versions of the “New Hope”, Khan Solo no longer shoots the first on the hunter of the head during their confrontation in Kantin. This is a radical change in the moral ambiguity of the character. The scene from the theater version emphasized that the Khan is a cunning, selfish smugglers, ready for everything to survive. Now the character seems more “good”.
Ultimately, it is worth noting that not all changes in special editions were taken by bayonets. For example, people praise the detailed general plans of cities per type Corcant and some extra scenes that are important for the plot – such as a dialogue between Luke and a friend of his youth in the fourth episode. A short conversation gives an important context of the subsequent reaction of the protagonist to the death of a comrade.
Whatever the case is, it is quite unknown that the original trilogy of Star Wars has so many different versions. What have you looked at? Tell us in the comments.
Do I have to make edits in classic films?
