Scientists from the Institute of Cognitive and Brain Sciences found that reading Max Planck, loudly and “yourself” contained various fields related to the movement, hearing and processing of knowledge. Research Results published In the journal neuroscience and Biobaveral Reviews (nbr).
Scientists, letters of the participants, words, Pseudosolov (meaningless letter sets), sentences and texts analyzed the data of more than 150 studies they read in various languages. The activity of the brain of the volunteers was watched with the help of MRI.
It turned out that the reading of the letters is mainly in a part of the left oxipital shell, and all sentences activate wider regions, including the left temporal and sub -frontal girus. These regions react differently to words showing their specialized functions in the processing of written information and Pseödosolov.
In addition, scientists discovered significant differences between open (loud) and secret reading. The first option activates the brain regions associated with motion and hearing, and the second is associated with the coordination between various cognitive systems.
Researchers have paid attention to how the brain distinguishes between open and implicit reading. For example, by silent reading of words and pseudos, the fields of the left orbitophrontal shell, cerebellum and temporal shells were activated. At the same time, the definition of lexical solutions – whether the letter set is a word – contains both sub -frontal and islet areas.
The authors emphasize that the results help to better understand the neurobiological basis of reading and may be useful in the development of methods for the diagnosis and treatment of speech and cognitive disorders.
