The series “The Wheel of Time” according to the Robert Jordan Book Cycle is one of the most important fantasy projects in Amazon. The first season of history about the reborn dragon, intended to save or destroy the world, was published in 2021. The assessment can be read on the link. Last week the third season ended and in this material we analyze how the story has changed, the heroes and why the project finally reached a new level.
The third season “Wheels of Time” is undoubtedly the strongest in the series. The main disadvantages of last seasons have finally been possible to eliminate what few could have recently believed. The quality of the script increased, but the most important thing is that the actors are used to the role and the characters could deepen deeper. One of the most disappointing fantasies series is transformed just before our eyes into one of the most successful. Such a “Game of Thrones” (Game of Thrones) is on the contrary.
Attention: there are spoilers in the material
The main characters, reunited at the end of last season, were already separated again in the first episode, so that several individual plot lines were formed. The most important thing is of course the story of the edge of Almetor, which now realizes its duties for the world, the most powerful Caster of all time. Rand goes to the home country of his people to embody the old prophecy and acquire an army, without you not being able to beat the dark forces in the last battle.
What distinguishes Randa from the chosen stories – the fear he causes in the hearts of the Allies. Even the best friends of the hero belong to the so -called new life -revived Dragon as if a slow bomb. They are constantly afraid that the edge will “explode” and not save the world, but destruction.
Have you read books that formed the basis of the series?
Josha Stradowski, who plays the role of Randa, perfectly radiates the appearance of loose deadly dew, charged with incredible responsibility. This is no longer a frivolous young man from the first season. In his behavior there is a depressive but clear internal conflict between good and evil. At the same time, despite the presence of darkness in the soul of Rand, you experience some confidence in the decisions he makes. As if a new life dragon knows something that the viewer and other characters of the “Wheel of Time” don’t know.
Moiren Damodred, played by Rosamund Pike, experienced a crisis of beliefs in the third season. She is a Randa teacher, his moral compass and a spiritual rod, but even such a strong person can doubt the correctness of his actions. Nevertheless, Moiren ultimately showed impressive determination and dedication, whereby the optimum action plan against dark forces was determined. Despite the fact that he is specific to her, he does not predict well. This causes more respect for the character and softens the unpleasant aftertaste after a number of cold -blooded actions that Moiren has sometimes committed. Yet she makes them because of the public interest.
In general, this season not only grew up Rand and Moiren, but also almost all the main characters. So when his countrymen mainly needed this, Aibar Perrin became an excellent leader in the settlement of Mesopotamia. Ninev Al’meara finally stopped being afraid of his own potential. Elain Cocks decided who checks her destiny. And Egwin Al’Vir was able to overcome the injury left by the events of last season. The characters had goals and clear motivations, so they finally want to empathize.
Admittedly, the role of Mata Kauton, one of the most important heroes of the wheel of time, is still unclear. Until the end, the mat was not as a self -sufficient player in this whole story. But even his setbacks are fascinated, the actor Donal Finn (Donal Finn) clings to Charisma.
Despite the fact that the new season of the Wheels of Time made a huge leap in quality, it cannot be called perfect. For example, there are still questions for production. Yes, it is no secret that Amazon gives as many resources for the series as on “The Lord of the Rings: The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power), which means that you should not wait for a similar level of quality of special effects, costumes, decorations and details. Attention is still worth working on this aspect.
There are some questions to the script. So after Ishael had stopped from history, there were no memorable antagonists to replace him. At the moment you can see a vacuum that Lanfir and Mogheedien try to fill, but they don’t seem to be as calculated and smart as Ishamael. Yes, and you can’t call them the threat of an apocalyptic level, because the servants of evil are considerably inferior in the power of random.
Moreover, the screenwriters were dragged by fake sterars. This season no character was about to go to the next world, but at the last minute he could save him. In the case of Alanized Moswani, this has generally happened several times, which lowers the rates.
Finally, in the series, here and here and there are small inconsistencies or just illogical moments. For example, in the final of the season, Rand came across the Vals, who was able to lure some of the soldiers waiting for the arrival of the new life dragon. But the cheaper does not even have a magic, therefore it is not clear how such a situation can be allowed.
In any case, the shortcomings do not cancel the fact that the third season has placed the “wheel of time” on the right track. It is of course a shame that this has only happened now, but we will be happy what happened at all. Now it remains to be hoped that Amazon will not leave a promising series under the knife and bring the story to the final.
