We recently talked about the AI Pin device from former Apple employees. But this is far from the only voice assistant available on the market. From our article you will learn about a similar gadget called Rabbit R1.

Rabbit R1 features
Rabbit R1 is a device that works with artificial intelligence. Neural networks process your voice request and provide a response. You can order a taxi and food, get information from an encyclopedia, translate from one language to another or play a song from the Spotify catalog. In addition, it is possible to connect a SIM card and make accurate calls. The gadget supports Bluetooth – you can connect wireless headphones to it.

Rabbit R1 Control
In addition to voice control, it is possible to use the touchscreen and the scroll wheel, like a computer mouse. Unlike the AI Pin, the Rabbit R1 has its own display. It provides information related to your questions. If you wish, you can photograph the item to work with the image later. For example, to find out when a restaurant was built and what the menu is.

Rabbit R1 prize
The cost of this device is its main advantage over the AI Pin. Instead of a fantastic €700 (≈64,000 rubles), they only ask you for €200 (≈18,000 rubles). However, according to users, even this price seems too high.

Experience using Rabbit R1
The biggest problem when working with neural networks is that processing each request takes too long. Most of the time is spent sending the command and receiving a response. The result is that even after a simple question, Rabbit R1 remains silent for several tens of seconds. Additionally, as a result, you may be asked to repeat the action or told that there is no connection to the server. This problem has nothing to do with internet speed. A regular smartphone can cope with this task much faster. Often, even asking to change the volume on the Rabbit R1 causes a problem that the system cannot solve.
Another problem is speech recognition. The gadget does not detect all accents and often simply does not understand what you want to tell it. And the quality of the voice recordings leaves much to be desired.

Presentations mentioned that Rabbit R1 can work with spreadsheets. Yes, this function is available. But the device makes a lot of mistakes. You may not notice them, and this is risky, especially when it comes to work documents. Notes will be displayed correctly, but editing them will be tedious due to the speed of the gadget. Each change takes several tens of seconds.
The scroll wheel is extremely clumsy. Unlike a computer mouse, here you have to scroll several times before moving to the next menu item.
The only thing we can praise Rabbit R1 for is the translation of lyrics. He is competent and correct.
Press reviews about Rabbit R1
The Rabbit R1 doesn’t offer anything your Android phone can’t do. All functions of this gadget have been replaced by a simple application. You can even find such programs online and install them on your smartphone.

The developers did not offer the option to disassemble the Rabbit R1. The back cover is glued, so removing it will be problematic. As a result, problems may arise when repairing the gadget. And the need to open the device will arise, because after a while you will have to replace the battery.

The very idea of the Rabbit R1 seems questionable in an era where smartphones can utilize all the features of artificial intelligence. And the gadget is clumsy to use. The touch keyboard here is small and doesn’t always read what you touch on it. Sometimes you have to press the same buttons multiple times. One of the shortcomings is the incorrect time display. The Rabbit R1’s clock was three hours behind and there was nothing we could do about it.
Listening to music is a separate problem. For example, in Spotify you cannot play playlists, only all the songs in a row. Adjusting the volume is tricky, as it requires you to shake the device and select the mode that interests you.

The Rabbit R1 is the worst gadget I have ever reviewed. We received a device with errors, defects and in all respects an unsuccessful device. The only advantages can be attributed to the design, which is made in the style of retrofuturism. At the same time, the speakers and camera are simply of disgusting quality. The battery is empty after 10 hours of less active use. The voice assistant often makes mistakes and answers the wrong questions I ask it. You absolutely cannot trust him.

The Rabbit R1 lacks features that I consider basic. You can’t set an alarm or timer and there’s no calendar or email option. Clumsy controls and constant errors beg the question: is it worth paying $200 for this device? At its core it is an unfinished product. Perhaps the situation will change in the future. But for this you will have to wait for a dozen updates or even the release of a new similar gadget.
